The Concept

Mark & I have, for quite some time now, wanted to create this blog. Our initial plan (which was formulated in Grade 11, if you want a measure of our project execution skills) was a site dedicated to book and movie reviews, where we could publish essays on our readings and recommendations as motivation to read more, and more analytically.

The design has since evolved to include our thoughts on current events, notes on things we're learning, and even creative poetry. In a sense, this blog is to be a scrapbook journal of our daily lives, a patchwork of our education, growth, and whatever meek and glimmering insight we gain throughout our time in college and perhaps beyond (refer back to the aforementioned project execution skills, or lack thereof). It is intended to process our own ideas, share them with each other and with our friends, and most importantly, encourage us to continue learning, thinking, and writing.

Because the design is a patchwork amalgamation of notes and ideas, don't expect the best writing or the deepest thoughts. You're reading the work of the man who still includes Demetrie Krookowski in his chemistry lab papers (in the hardest chemistry class in the world), and the woman whose greatest literary achievement to this date is nearly 100 pages worth of what is effectively superhero fanfiction, written in the ninth grade. These are simply the thoughts of a couple friends and their attempt to understand the world around them: nothing profound, nothing revolutionary, nothing particularly intelligent, but one-hundred-percent authentic.

If you are to read our blog, we ask only that you be the kind of person with a few simple questions: questions like, who am I? Who do I want to be? As I interact with media, hear about increasing polarization and violence in the news, and face complex moral quandries, how can I learn, grow, and actively participate in the betterment of our world? What does it mean to be human? And most importantly, most fundamentally, most sincerely -- who is Demetrie Krookowski?
